Earth Moving Mechanic at Afrimat

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate or N4 equivalent
• Have an applicable trade certificate as a Earth Moving / Diesel Mechanic
• Mine Health and Safety Act understanding
• 5 years + experience as a Earth Moving / Diesel Mechanic
• Working knowledge of all earthmoving machinery (mobile plant, loaders, dumpers, excavators, LDVs, mobile crushing and screening machines)
• Basic auto electrical knowledge
• Working knowledge of different applicable tools
• Computer literate – MS Office, ability to open job cards
• Ability to conduct planning is essential
• Basic welding – Advantageous
• Spray painting – Advantageous
• Supervisory skills (Team leader) – Advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

• The successful candidate will be appointed as a competent person in terms of Regulation 2.9.2 and 2.13.2, together with Section 7.4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Ensuring the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of all plant equipment and machinery within designated area of responsibility
• Plan and perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet
• Perform first line of breakdown repairs on plant and equipment
• Assist with general duties assigned by Manager
• Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
• Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding and repair
• Ordering of spares
• Complete risk assessments
• Good experience in hydraulics
