Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Grade 12
- Qualified Boilermaker (Red Seal Certificate)
- Minimum 2–3 years post-trade experience, preferably in a quarry, mining, or heavy industrial environment
- Understanding of mechanical systems on crushing and screening plants
- Write, understand, and communicate in English
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be prepared to work after hours when needed
- Will be able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Will be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- No criminal record
- Assisting in preparation for internal and external audits
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Conduct routine, planned, and breakdown maintenance on crushers, screens, conveyors, bins, chutes, hoppers, and other fixed plant equipment
- Identify and repair cracks, worn parts, and structural defects through welding, cutting, and fitting
- Install new plant sections, support frames, guards, handrails, and other mechanical components as needed
- Maintain housekeeping standards in workshops and work areas
- Maintain tools, welding equipment, and workshop machinery in good working order
- Work collaboratively with fitters, electricians, and plant operators to minimize downtime

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate or N4 equivalent
- Have an applicable trade certificate as a Earth Moving / Diesel Mechanic
- Mine Health and Safety Act understanding

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- The successful candidate will be appointed as a competent person in terms of Regulation 2.9.2 and 2.13.2, together with Section 7.4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Ensuring the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of all plant equipment and machinery within designated area of responsibility
- Plan and perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet
- Perform first line of breakdown repairs on plant and equipment
- Assist with general duties assigned by Manager
- Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
- Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding and repair
- Ordering of spares
- Complete risk assessments
- Good experience in hydraulics

- Support the Health and Safety Officer with administrative tasks, record keeping, filling and maintaining Health and Safety documentation
- Prepare, type and maintain correspondence and other administrative documents
- Capture data and compile reports as required
- Maintain accurate filing systems and records
- Report operational or dispatch- related issues to the supervisor
- Maintain good housekeeping standards
- Perform any other reasonable duties as delegated by management

- Conduct troubleshooting, Fault Diagnosis and do RCA on failures
- Perform machine inspections on vehicles and compile backlog lists
- Coordinate assistants to carried out first line of maintenance tasks
- Pro-actively support & participate in safety & work practice related initiatives
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment in accordance with the applicable policy & prescriptions
- Keeping own working area clean, tidy & presentable always
- Managing & maintaining tooling in good, serviceable condition

- Basic PLC programming and SCADA integration knowledge

- Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment
- Fabricate parts and conduct basic welding as required
- Order parts and equipment as needed to ensure uninterrupted plant operation
- Complete all required documentation, including inspection sheets and maintenance logs
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment
- Participate in overtime and standby duties on a rotational basis
- Comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and promote a safe work environment
- Good knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits per MHSA requirements.
