Manage and oversee the publication, packaging, enrichment and optimisation of online content on Tuis/Home and ensure that the content on the website will be fresh, original, relevant, strong and appropriate for the target market
Ensure that social media, newsletters and other digital platforms are used optimally to increase reach and engagement, oversee the writing and scheduling of social media content and manage the moderation of comments on social media
Collaborate with the title’s team to chase digital targets by focusing on the production and online distribution of compelling, unique content
Drive digital innovation for the brand
Iron out technical glitches with the developers so that the website and its platforms will work optimally
Do quality control of digital content delivered by the journalists and manage the web optimisation of magazine content
Maintain good communication between other key players and the digital team and help build a healthy team dynamic and smooth processes
Handling of ad hoc projects (multimedia/creative content projects) at the request of the editor
Comply with Tuis/Home’s quality, style and content standards
Comply with the requirements of the South African Press Code
Diploma or degree in journalism, languages, or media studies
At least five years of relevant experience in the digital media
Excellent writing and editing skills in Afrikaans and English
Good news judgment and general knowledge
Understand how to use social media optimally
Knowledge of the publication’s target market and passion for the media
Experience with video and audio production advantageous
Proficiency in relevant computer software packages (Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign especially beneficial)
Good inter-personal and people skills, decision making skills, perseverance and problem solving skills
Ability to work under extreme pressure and meet tight deadlines
Good time management and the ability to perform and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
