    Educational Program Coordinator (Bryanston)

    Key tasks and responsibilities

    • Collaborate with SOWC experts and affiliated learning experience designers to articulate desired learning outcomes for each training module, and shape course content including topics, case studies, experiential learning, and assessments.
    • Develop a network of subject matter experts within AP to help inform the content of technical or AP-related modules. The goal is to ensure that key operational requirements for effective PM and PMU staff will be covered in the training.
    • Work closely with Akagera team to ensure that experiential training is feasible. Develop a plan to ensure the that necessary infrastructure and systems upgrade is carried out before the opening of the Academy in 2025, and that additional staff is recruited and trained as needed.
    • Ensure that the course content is compliant with AP SOPs.
    • Once course content is clarified, develop the AP Academy schedule. At full capacity, this schedule should accommodate at least 6 different PMU trainings (15 pax each) and 2 PM trainings (10-15 pax each), with at least 1 session in French for each program.
    • Work with SOWC to assess certification implications on the curriculum and provide recommendations to AP on the way forward.
    • Define minimum requirements for participation in PM and PMU trainings.
    • Identify potential AP faculty and create a 'train the trainer' program in coordination with SOWC.
    • Plan the pilot phase for testing PM and PMU training programs in collaboration with the Academy Manager. Consolidate lessons learnt and coordinate curriculum adaptations with SOWC.
    • Provide support to Conservation Development Director and Institutional SPM on admin-related tasks (IAF, proposal development, 5YBP and budget update, etc.).

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as conservation, environmental studies or project management.
    • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in conservation, with a solid comprehension of the diverse aspects of protected area management.
    • At least one work experience with AP (min. 1 year) and a very fine knowledge and understanding of the model and the organisation’s SOP.
    • Successful track-record in an academic, research or mentoring field.
    • Successful track record in leading or coordinating a multi-cultural and interdisciplinary project. Proven capacity to consistently meet deadlines.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to interact with people from very different backgrounds, cultures, and seniority.
    • Outstanding communication skills.
    • Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
    • Excellent writing skills, with a strong attention to detail.
    • Capacity to work autonomously and take initiatives.
    • Passionate about conservation, Africa, its people and its biodiversity.
    • Ability to speak or read French is a plus.
