Electrical Engineer - Vanderbijlpark at Proconics

Purpose
Proconics Vanderbijlpark is growing its Electrical team. This team provides EPC services to clients mainly in the petrochemical industry. The Electrical Engineer will report to the team leader within the Department for Electrical Engineering and Design. The Electrical Engineer will be involved in various project phases from feasibility studies to the commissioning and handover phases of projects. You will be the technical lead on several projects at a time and you may be the project manager on smaller projects. Responsibilities include engineering and project management to ensure the successful execution of projects.  

Requirements

• Managing self-responsibility concerning time, attendance and quality.
•  Also, be able to function as an electrical lead engineer for multi-disciplinary projects.
•  Review client proposals in terms of electrical engineering and design.
•  Provide technical input for basic and detailed design.
•  Whether delivered internally or through external resources, manage and oversee all aspects of Electrical Engineering deliverables that will ensure the delivery of quality work to other disciplines.
•  Assist in planning and reviewing technical work and maintaining project schedules and work plans.
•  Translate electrical design intention across disciplines during the design phase and manage interfaces.  Evaluate vendor proposals for bid clarifications.
•  Work closely with other Senior/Project/Engineering Managers and aspire to support and achieve the goals of the Company.
•  See that engineering innovation, optimization and strategies are implemented and enforced to the advantage of our partners, and   Design of electrical distribution systems.
•  Design schematic and connection diagrams for electrical equipment.
•  Review client proposals in terms of electrical design.
•  Provide technical input for basic and detailed design.
•  Assist in planning and reviewing technical work and maintaining project schedules and work plans.
•  Perform a Project Management role on some smaller projects.
•  Preparation of quotations.
•  As-building of existing electrical installations.
•  Fault finding on existing electrical systems.
•  Perform point-to-point wiring and functional checks on LV and MV equipment.
•  Assist with commissioning support for new electrical systems.
•  Good understanding of standards to evaluate the quality of installed electrical systems.
•  Willing to travel outside of Vanderbijlpark for work at times.  

Qualifications/Experience

• To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

•  B. Eng/B Sc (Eng) in Electrical Engineering.
•  ECSA Pr. Eng registration will be an added advantage.
•  Driver’s license and means of transport.
•  RSA Citizenship.
•  +4 years' relevant working experience in the Petrochemical industry with a proven track record in basic engineering, design, commissioning and operation support.
•  Zero tolerance towards unsafe designs, acts, and hazards and a passion for a zero-harm culture through safe engineering solutions.
•  Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing, controlling, coordinating and directing Electrical Engineering activities   Knowledge of applicable design codes, standards and regulations.
•  Ability to work across disciplines, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
•  Must be capable of evaluating and weighing alternatives, establishing relative priorities and formulatingdecisions that affect all phases of projects and the complete life cycle of proposed engineering solutions.
•  Must be able to develop fit-for-purpose solutions for partners to create long-term relationships.
•  Main experience gained in a consulting environment.
•  Brownfields project execution experience, and
•  Key computer proficiency:
• ETAP and/or DIgSILENT,
• EPLAN, and
• MS Office Suite
