    Electronic Technician Boksburg, South Africa Operations

    You will have the chance to create an impact wherever you join our critical 47,000-strong Operations team. The transition of PMI from selling cigarettes to our new smoke-free products has altered the way we work. New products present new challenges in terms of sourcing and purchasing raw materials, engineering and manufacturing, and supply chain planning.

    The Electronic Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the technical standards of production equipment to meet production and quality requirements while adhering to health, safety, quality, and production standards. Contribute to the development of team capabilities and online process knowledge.

    Your day to day

    Preventive & Planned Electronical Maintenance

    • Carry out electrical maintenance (reactive, troubleshooting, preventive, planned, and subassembly repairs) in accordance with relevant procedures to ensure the availability of production equipment
    • Assist Production in implementing brand and format changes
    • Check and maintain equipment calibration in accordance with standard settings to ensure equipment availability for production
    • The job holder can organise maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule, considering material and personnel availability
    • The job holder offers on-the-job training for all levels of ET. The position holder integrates new technologies and control devices on the equipment, as well as ensures calibration ejections. Flow metre, weight belts, static weight, temperature, pressure, and level are all included.
    • The job holder actively participates in reviewing preventive maintenance routines for updates and changes
    • The job holder coordinates and participates in machine improvement and installation projects involving Siemens, Rockwell, Festo PLCs, Wonderware Intouch, WinCC, and other manufacturers

    Equipment Installation & Modification

    • Participate in installation and production equipment modifications in accordance with change management procedures, as needed, to ensure equipment availability on time

    Technical Record Keeping

    • Keep technical documentation up to date to ensure information accuracy; prepare and update, as needed, a standards-setting and fixing list of machines/processes, and notify all parties involved
    • Check and maintain inspection and coding machines in accordance with industry standards
    • Fills out the necessary forms and enters data into the information systems on time to ensure product traceability and equipment intervention

    Collaboration

    • Work collaboratively with team members, production, and support departments
    • Analyse production and quality data to track shift results
    • Troubleshooting and production assistance
    • Anticipate problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and take appropriate measures to ensure the continuity of the manufacturing process and improve equipment efficiency, in accordance with the OPEN+ pillars and system.
    • Help with multifunctional troubleshooting of critical process failures and replacement parts
    • Check that maintenance instruments/tools are in good working order and are being used. Standardize and align machine settings with defined kits and spare parts to reduce consumption.
    • Using the SAP Materials Management module to determine the availability of spare parts in the store

    Health, Safety & Environment

    • Promote and enforce all PMI Quality, environment, health, and safety rules. Report all situations that necessitate actions to reduce or eliminate risks to personnel, company assets, and societal impacts while remaining in compliance with or ahead of any applicable Law requirements and Company standards

    Performance Assessment & Development

    • Ensure complete compliance with relevant legislation, internal policies, and procedures, and meet the goals set during the annual performance evaluation process
    • Accountable for completing the established training plan

    We are looking for

    • A completed electronic technology National diploma or degree (or related qualifications)
    • A minimum 4 years of experience as an electrical technician or similar role with advanced PLC programming, coding is key
    • 2 years of electrical experience within a high-volume consumer goods manufacturing company
    • Computer literacy in SAP, MS Word, and MS Excel
    • Ability to coordinate maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule, taking into account material and personnel availability
