Engineering Technician x1 at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualification and experience required:

• National Diploma - Electrical Engineering
• Registration with ECSA will be an added advantage.
• A valid Code B driver’s licence.
• Three years’ relevant experience.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Ability to identify colour-coded cabling (needs to be tested).
• Must be physically fit, healthy and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot.
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Administrative and report-writing skills.
• The successful candidates will be required to perform standby duties. He/she will be required to use own private vehicle for official duties for which the relevant locomotion allowance will be paid.
• As part of the selection process, the recommended candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Division.

Job purpose:

• Supervising, co-ordinating and controlling domestic metering activities for the purpose of ensuring the accurate measurement of electrical energy and power consumed by domestic consumers in the area supply.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
