    Building Inspector

    Qualifications and experience required:

    • Trade-tested Artisan in the Civil/Construction industry – NQF Level 5.
    • Registered Architectural Technician and/or Building Inspector.
    • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Three years’ relevant work experience.

    Key attributes and competencies:

    • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • A very high level of attention to detail.
    • Good organisational, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
    • Ability to monitor health and safety requirements in terms of the OSH Act during inspections.

    Job purpose:

    • Implementing sequences associated with monitoring compliance with standards, procedures, regulations, and specifications encompassed in National Building Regulations with regard to the submission of plans for approval and proposed construction of buildings, preparing and presenting investigational and qualitative reports, processing/approving specific transactional work documentation, and issuing compliance notices and certificates to align practices.

    Qualifications and experience required:

    • Qualified Electrical Engineering Artisan.
    • One year’s relevant experience.
    • Must have own vehicle and a valid Code B driver’s licence. A locomotion allowance will be paid in terms of the relevant policy.

    Key attributes and competencies:

    • Must be physically fit and healthy and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot; equipment and tools of up to 20kg must be lifted or carried; drives to and visits sites; climbs ladders.
    • Works in environmental conditions that are physically stressful such as varying temperatures and weather conditions, working in confined spaces and unhygienic places and exposed to potential physical threat when having to visit unsafe residential and business areas and working with live electrical conductors.
