Engineer Artisan (Auto Electrical) at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Trade-tested Artisan.
• A valid Code B driver’s licence.
• Physically fit and able-bodied.

Key attributes and competencies:

The incumbent should possess the following attributes and competencies:

• Knowledge of fault-finding, diagnosis and repairs.
• Communication, conflict resolution and supervisory skills.
• Ability and willingness to be on standby and work outside normal working hours.

Job purpose:

• Coordinating and controlling the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialised tasks/activities associated with the auto-electrical maintenance and repair work to diesel/petrol small and heavy plant and vehicles by monitoring and correcting the productivity and performance output of general support personnel and/or addressing specific deviations from safety standards, removing/replacing defective components and rewiring sections of electrical circuits and troubleshooting, fault-finding and problem solving electrical system faults in order to ensure vehicle/plant electrical system are maintained and any deviation in performance restored to enable optimum functionality.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
