Qualifications and experience required:

• Qualified Electrical Engineering Artisan.
• One year’s relevant experience.
• Must have own vehicle and a valid Code B driver’s licence. A locomotion allowance will be paid in terms of the relevant policy.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Must be physically fit and healthy and able to perform manual operations and duties on foot; equipment and tools of up to 20kg must be lifted or carried; drives to and visits sites; climbs ladders.
• Works in environmental conditions that are physically stressful such as varying temperatures and weather conditions, working in confined spaces and unhygienic places and exposed to potential physical threat when having to visit unsafe residential and business areas and working with live electrical conductors.
• Sight, speech and hearing ability.
• The successful candidates will be required to perform standby duties and work shifts that fall outside working hours.
• As part of the selection process, the recommended candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Division.

Job purpose:

• Supervising the activities of subordinate staff and performing duties in relation to meter installation.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
