Environmental Operator at AECI Limited

Job Description    

• Effluent sample collection - Collect effluent and sewage samples on a daily basis to generate daily and weekly effluent results  
• Record flow readings daily  at weak and strong effluent monitoring stations, investigate and report abnormalities in flow  and report equipment failures and malfunctions 
• Clean drains, flumes and measuring points of sand and debris especially in the rainy season and fill in flume check lists
• Make up lime solution for acid neutralization as needed and stipulated in the Operating Instruction. 
• Ensure there is a constant supply of lime solution in the lime tank.
• Fill in lime control stock sheet
• Removal of solid waste -Drive tractor with attached powerax and waste skip containing explosive solid waste from the different plants to the correct burning ground daily. 
• Assist burning ground personnel with waste offloading.
• Return empty skips to the respective collection points.
• Drive tractor with attached powerax and waste skip containing building rubble and soil to the Solid Waste Facility
• Investigate the cause and/or source of abnormal effluent or water flows and report to the Environmental Officer and take special samples where relevant.
• Comply with governance  and established policies, systems, procedures and  practices
• Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards

Qualifications & Experience    

• Matric or commenced with
• 0-6 Months experience in a similar role 
• Code 8, 10 or 14  driver’s license
• Literacy (ability to read and write English)
• Understand environmental significance and procedures
• First aid and fire fighting will be an advantage
