    Job Description
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To ensure the risk of a project is minimised with a compilation of a good estimate.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To provide support to the Project team in the formation of their EPCM budgets
    • Coordination of the estimate input for an estimate from all relevant disciplines/individuals, to suit the required level of accuracy and the proposal time schedule.
    • To facilitate risk assessment workshops for project work to verify estimating provisions
    • Stay abreast of new trends and innovations
    • Understand the requirements of the client RQF and final proposal by:
    • Studying and analysing the RFQ documentation to understand the requirements.
    • Analysing the current proposal requirements against previous proposals
    • To understand the requirements of a proposal manager
    • To work with the team to establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for all levels of estimates in alignment with scope of work
    • To collate and check all commercial and technical information by: 
    • Analysing the signed-off document received & compare to requirements of the client RFQ
    • Compiling the data and summarise it
    • Developing a database of rates and costs
    • Collating of all relevant information from all parties for future reference.
    • Obtaining the result of a Risk Analysis from the Project Proposal Manager, Review the results to identify an impact on any part     of the estimate and finally incorporate recommendation into the estimate
    • To submit the estimate to the Proposal Manager for submission to the client 
    • To assist the project team with estimate information when the project is awarded
    • Ensure team participation by:
    • Attending and participating in the following meetings:
    • Proposal Kick off meeting
    • Progress and co-ordination meeting
    • Risk analysis meeting
    • Price fix meeting to provide estimate summary to Management 
    • Actively promote the Company's professional image, both internally & externally
    • Implement and manage adhoc projects and duties as may be required and assigned from time to time.
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

    REQUIRED SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE

    • Cost estimation: Understanding cost of design and ability to estimate cost related to a project or specific activity
    • Estimating methods: Good understanding of conceptual, capacity factored, mechanical factored and definitive methods.
    • Risk analysis: Ability to identify project and activates risks from any point of view 
    • Basic IT Tools: Use of office automation software tools and basic comber application.  
    • Estimating control document: Development of estimating spreadsheet that can cope with the complexity of the project and any movement in factors, rates, foreign exchange, commodity prices etc.
    • Cost control: Knowledge of cost engineering principles: total cost management and total quality management etc.
    • Change management: Ability to effectively and efficiently manage changes during the course of the project
    • Commercial Principles: Understanding of contract types and of their main features
    • Legislation & Standards: Knowledge of sector specific law e.g. Engineering, safety etc. and standard specifications e.g. Plant layout requirements etc.
    • Project Management: Knowledge of basic project management methods and all project lifecycle phases

    Qualifications

    • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Grade 12
    • Minimum 3 years qualification i.e. Engineering, Construction or Quantity Surveying
    • PMI, AACEI certification
