    Expression of Interest: Senior Piping Engineer

    Main Purpose Of Job

    • To maintain collaborative and close work relationships with the multi-disciplinary Project Site Teams in carrying out the business objectives of the Worley Construction Unit in a cost-effective manner.

    Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

    • Performing, approve Design Verification of Pressure Piping using software and develop excel calculations for part code calculations
    • Understanding and preparation of hydrotest & pneumatic testing calculations, good exposure to compressible flow and 2 phase flow.
    • Prepare, Review and Approve Valve Datasheets, Special Piping Items Datasheets and Specifications
    • Prepare, Review and Approve sizing/development of pressure piping and specifications i.e. Line Classes
    • Prepare, Review and Approve Technical equipment requisitions required for procurement purposes
    • Manage and maintain the Line List & Special Piping Items
    • Prepare, review and approve Client/project standard specifications and design criteria
    • Perform, Review & Approve technical bid analysis & tabulation which will be used to select appropriate vendors
    • Review vendor information for technical detail and information
    • Provide solutions based on client requirements that are in line with the company's business model
    • Conduct Review & Approve technical investigations.
    • Assist in Leading Project progress, Interactive Planning Sessions and Kick-off meetings.
    • Prepares Man-hour estimates for Proposal
    • Develop strong working relationships with client and contractors
    • Maintain workshare relationships with other Worley Offices and Global Integrated Delivery (GID), i.e. with assigned Mechanical Process Plant Equipment Engineer(s) for the project(s).
    • Assist in Management of change orders and scope of works
    • Assist in Resolving interdepartmental and client issues timeously; this includes seeking higher-level authority, if required, i.e. Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer
    • Provide Commissioning assistance when required.
    • Conduct technical / feasibility studies and investigations.
    • Conduct integrity Audits on existing process plant mechanical infrastructure.
    • Adhere to Worley standardized practices, procedures and general work instruction – "Go-Buys."
    • Adhere to Engineering National Standards & Specifications
    • Adhere to local Acts & Regulations, i.e. Mine Health and Safety Act No 29 of 1996, or the OHS Act etc.…
    • Adhere to Mechanical & Piping Engineering Procedures, Policies & Work Instructions
    • Adhere to Worley & Client HSE Policies & Procedures
    • Timeous completion of weekly timesheets
    • Maintaining good ethical behaviour & practices always
    • Adhering to the Worley Code of Conduct
    • Regular interaction and communication with client, contractors & vendors
    • Timeously distribution of project documentation to the relevant recipients

    Essential Skills/Experience

    Skills/ Competencies:

    • Knowledge & experience with MS Office packages (create spreadsheets, registers, reports, presentations, workflows, etc.)
    • Knowledge of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.
    • Specialist Knowledge of International Codes, i.e. ISO, ASME, BS, SANS etc. of practice relevant to the industry
    • Knowledge of National and International Standards
    • Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Design & Principles
    • Proficient with Engineering tools and Software
    • Knowledge and ability to perform Technical Evaluations for standard and non-standard (requisitioned) materials and construction contracts and to be part of construction bid evaluation meetings
    • Knowledge of Project Planning, Cost control, procurement & contracts Processes including document control
    • Extensive Knowledge of Bill of Quantities

    Experience:

    • 8+ years
    • EPC / EPCM Environment
    • Has a competent understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices.
    • Experience in mining and petrochemical
    • Estimating manhours for proposals
    • Writing proposal content.
    • Extensive Experience in Pressure Piping
    • Experience in CAESAR II or AutoPipe
    • Experience in 2 phase flow, PSV Discharge, Acoustic Vibration, Fluid Hammer
    • Experience in Dynamic Analysis: Dynamic Loads, Wind & Seismic
    • Extensive Experience in sealing of joints & bolting
    • Extensive Experience in metallic & non- metallic piping
    • Extensive Experience with Cat M, Sour & Low Temperature Service
    • Experience in Hot Tapping
    • Experience in Re-Rating
    • Experience in Fitness for Service
    • Experience in Remaining Life Calculations
    • Experience in Insulation Materials
    • Experience in Material Selection
    • Experience in Material Substitution
    • Experience in Piping Line Classes application and development
    • Experience in Hydrotest Pressures Calculations
    • Experience with material corrosion mechanisms
    • Intermediate Multi-Office Project Experience
    • Intermediate Multi-Project Phase Experience
    • Approving Process Piping Designs as a Registered Professional (Professional Seal)

    General:

    • Good written & verbal communication & interpersonal skills
    • Ability to multi-task, work under tight deadlines & frequently to change priorities
    • Ability to work as part of a team or independently when required
    • Good problem solver and meticulous & analytical
    • Escalate issues timeously to Principal Mechanical Engineer
    • Technical accuracy, completeness of data and adherence to the task
    • Technical Writing ability
    • Ability to work in a diverse team and work environment that is globally based
    • Reports to the Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer on the Project
    • Willing to participate in technical Peer Reviews when required
