Factory Manager (Component Manufacturing) – Johannesburg at Professional Career Services

Job Description

Reporting to the MD, You will be responsible for managing 2 factories, one in the East Rand and one in the West Rand.

• Establish goals for production
• Recommend ways to increase / improve production.
• Assure products meet quality standards.
• Procure steel to meet the production schedule.
• Analyze production data and optimize for efficiency.
• Ensure workers and equipment meet performance and safety requirements.
• Look for opportunities to improve operations.
• Estimate manufacturing costs and identify ways to reduce them
• Monitor production output and adjust processes as necessary to meet deadlines
• Determine the cost of products being manufactured, ensuring these costs are controlled.
• Maintain the machinery in the factory to limit downtime.
• Recommend the purchasing of new equipment to replace older / less efficient machinery or to introduce new machinery to increase production.
• Hire, train, and assess the performance of workers. Meet with the unions when required.
• Manage the maintenance of the warehouse.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Manufacturing/Production/Business

Skills

• Strong background in steel / component manufacturing
• A minimum of 10+ years management and manufacturing experience
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage cross-functional team members
• Technical competencies in manufacturing (e.g. technical drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM)
