Field Guide (Re-advertisement) at South African National Parks (SANParks)

Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) required or equivalent 
• FGASA Nature Site Guide/ Trails Guide NQF 4 or equivalent
• Registration with DEAT to act as a nature guide.
• Valid code C1 driver’s license with PDP
• Sound knowledge of fauna and flora of the area.
• Sound knowledge of stargazing.
• Proficiency in two languages (including English) is essential.
• Valid First Aid Certificate level 1.
• 2-3 years’ experience as a field guide.
• Ability to do long and extended game drives and walks under unfavourable conditions.
• Candidate should be willing to complete a Practical Exam as part of their interview

Added Advantage:

• First Aid Level 2.
• Trails Guide Dangerous Game Area.
• FGASA Tracker Certificate.
• National Certificate / NQF Level 4 in Environmental Management/ Conservation/ Tourism/ Natural Resources Management.

Responsibilities

• Activities (game drives and guided walks, etc) to enhance guest experience of Addo Elephant National Park.
• Selling and promoting of the activities to guests
• Assisting with any other events in the park.
• Compiling and completing of vehicle Log Sheets, attendance registers and other admin duties.
• Maintenance of equipment and game drive vehicles.
• Assist with interpretive services to guests/schools or during events.
• Assisting with duty drives and escorting of visitors.
• The successful candidate will be required to pass the Addo Game Guide exams.
• Ad-Hoc duties as per instruction of line manager.
