Field Service Technician at Unique Personnel

Job Description    
Reports to the Aftermarket Manager

• Based in the East Rand area

Main Responsibilities/Functions of Job:

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Travel to customer job sites to troubleshoot and maintain industrial equipment, specifically electric and diesel driven rotary screw air compressors, various types of air dryers and other air system components
• Perform diagnostics and determine causes for malfunctions on defective air compressor systems 
• Provide failure analysis and equipment/system recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance.
• Consult with and advise customers on compressed air equipment needs, maintenance, and repairs 
• Technical assistance on equipment start-ups and installations 
• Read and comprehend operational manuals, electrical schematics, and parts breakdowns
• Document service and installation activities by completing work orders for each job 
• Maintaining service vehicle with proper equipment, tools, and parts to promote efficient, factory approved methods for servicing equipment. 
• Other instructions and assignments that may be given at the discretion of the management

You will also be expected to: 

• Devote all your time and attention during normal business working hours. 
• At all times faithfully, promptly and punctually conduct and perform all your duties that conform to your position or such duties or functions that may be delegated or assigned to you on behalf of the Directors or your superior.
• Generally, use your best endeavours to properly conduct, improve, extend, develop and protect the business and interest of the company, in order to preserve its reputation and goodwill. 
• Submit to the Directors or your immediate superior such information as may be required in connection with the business or affairs of the company. 
• Remain just and faithful to the company in the performance of your duties. 
• Not during the currency of this employment or at any time thereafter encourage, persuade, entice, or attempt to assist any employee of the company or its subsidiary or associated companies to leave the employment of the company.

Inherent Requirements    
Education:

• Grade 12
• Mechanical, Electrical or Diesel trade or similar by experience

Required Skills and Capabilities/Experience:

• Previous work experience in the maintenance of air compressors, electric and diesel driven portable units
• Must have diesel driven screw compressor or generator service experience, electric driven screw compressor service experience would also be great.
• Interpersonal skills to work with customers and suppliers and to work as part of the team
• The ability to plan and prioritise work in accordance with business requirements.
