Finance Project Manager

We are seeking a Project Finance Manager, based in Cape Town, working for a Global Renewable Energy Company The purpose of the role is to prepare and manage financial evaluation, financial analysis, risk assessment and financing of new projects and new opportunities during all phases of project development i.e. from inception to financial close. Reporting to the Head of Project Finance.

• Prepare Project Finance input to presentations during all project phases
• Co-ordinate the signing and closing of relevant financial closing documentation
• Prepare relevant due diligence documentation
• Support bid team with financial analysis as required during commercial negotiations
• Conditions precedent
• Finalise lender related requirements for financial closure
• Negotiate with lenders on terms
• Liaise with legal advisory
• Ensure timely compliance
• Financing agreement reporting
• Ensure performance of financing agreements during project execution
• Ensure timeous reporting of asset management performance during project execution
• Research
• Evaluate new technology financial feasibility
• Investigate tax legislation in various jurisdictions
• Investigate legal aspects
• Investigate novel funding opportunities
• Internal project team coordination / interaction
• Obtain project inputs from all stakeholders and ensure appropriate capturing in valuation
• Define result in project risk / return
• Liaise with Project Finance team
• Support senior management decision making
• Interaction with lenders, insurance advisers, hedging advisers and financial advisers
• Negotiate with lenders to obtain optimal financing terms
• Provide required project inputs
• Utilise advisory information appropriately
• Direct advisor work and manage interaction

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Degree in Finance
• Commerce Degree or Engineering Degree with CA/CFA/MBA ideally
• 5+ years background in Project Finance, Structured Finance or M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions)
• 5+ years’ experience in complex financial modelling using MS Excel
• Ideally Demonstrated successful financial closing of a Project Financed deal
• Renewable energy experience would be advantageous
• Experience working in a location outside South Africa also advantageous
• Solution orientated, dedicated and someone who takes ownership of tasks and responsibilities
• Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative
• Flexible and adaptable and “can-do” attitude
• Confident and quick learner
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken and an additional language beneficial
