    Financial Accountant

    Are you fluent in German? Do you have excellent business and finance experience? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you!

    Our client, a German foundation for liberal politics is currently looking for a German-speaking Finance Specialist for Sub Saharan Africa to join their office in Johannesburg, South Africa.

    Their goal is it to promote the principle of freedom, with supporting human rights, rule of law and democracy in more than 60 countries, form the core of the work of the regional offices in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central America.

    This role requires one to have excellent German-speaking and writing skills, and any German language qualification is advantageous. This is a hands-on job which requires one to be analytical and accurate in everything. There will be some opportunities to travel for the company, therefore willingness and ability to travel is a must.

    Salary: R720 000 – R780 000 annually

    Requirements:

    • Degree in Business administration with accounting background and/or experience is essential
    • Fluent communication skills, both written and verbal, in German & English is essential
    • French-speaking skills advantageous
    • Knowledge of South African business legislation
    • Ability to work independently, using a structured and solution-focused approach
    • Working experience is essential
    • Knowledge of Navision accounting system advantageous
    • Ability and willingness to travel
    • Affinity for teamwork

    Key responsibilities:

    • Generate and assist with the preparation of project funding applications, agreements, reports on fund utilisation and account reconciliations
    • Prepare budgets and manage liquidity and costs for the various cost centres
    • Verify that project accounting complies with rules and regulations, reconcile open positions and balances, organise and monitor voucher audits
    • Convey guidelines and regulations and manage their implementation
    • Analyse reports, initiate and monitor adjustment measures
    • Administrate and manage activities according to the Regional Directors instructions
    • Troubleshoot and create guidelines for financial administration in the region
    • Advisory assistance to the regional director in staff management
    • Generate financial management information
    • Training of financial administrators
