    Financial Accountant

    Job overview

    • Following an international move by the current post holder, we have an exciting new vacancy in our Springs Finance Team.
    • We are looking for a Financial Accountant who will be responsible for complete, accurate and timeous recording of financial information.
    • You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain and manage local and international accounting controls and standards.
    • In this role you will develop standard accounting procedures to improve financial operating efficiency.
    • This role is suitable for someone with strong analytical skills who can perform financial analysis, reporting and management tasks to support strategic decision making.
    • Reporting into the Head of Finance in South Africa, you will manage a team of nine, so you will be an effective and proven people manager.
    • You will be an advocate and role model of our Company Values.

    Duties and tasks

    • Ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted according to the group reporting calendar.
    • Ensure financial transactions are updated and recorded in the general and subsidiary ledger.
    • Review financial data or accuracy, correctness and completeness.
    • Implement and maintain key internal controls to mitigate risk of fraud and error.
    • Manage cash controls and reporting according to group standards and timelines.
    • Manage and assist in accounts payables/receivables activity and controls.
    • Manage pay office, ensuring statutory compliance, segregation of duties, control account reconciliation and integration to the general ledger.
    • Reconciliation and maintenance of the fixed asset register.
    • Preparation of the interim and year end audit files.
    • Preparation and submission of department of statistics returns.
    • Perform company secretarial duties.
    • Prepare statutory Annual Financial Statements.
    • Ensure the adherence of the all Health and Safety requirements.

    Criteria skills

    • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Grade 12
    • B. Accounting Degree/Chartered Accountant
    • Computer literacy- Advanced Excel and ERP system skills.
    • Membership of an Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent.
    • Strong financial management experience in a manufacturing or mining environment.
    • Detail orientated.
    • Coaching/mentoring and training.
    • Financial, costing, treasury and payroll management.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with broader strategic skills.
    • Managerial skills with the ability to manage at senior level.
    • Time management skills.
    • Communication and presentation skills.
    • Decision making skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Futuristic strengths and vision.
