Financial Analyst (Cape Town CBD) at Flash Group

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Analysis:

• Analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with forecasts and budgets.
• Develop financial models to support business decisions.
• Evaluate the financial performance of the department, identifying trends and anomalies.
• Determine return on investment of various initiatives.
• Analyse variances across various systems and products and conduct investigations and related remediation.

Commercial Analysis:

• Assess market conditions and industry trends.
• Analyse competitor performance and market positioning.
• Review and prepare financial viabilities for various strategic initiatives.
• Assess proposed costs and spending of various projects, including alignment to relevant accounting standards.

Reporting:

• Prepare detailed financial reports for senior management.
• Present insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and performance metrics.

Other:

• Work closely with other departments to gather relevant data and insights.
• Review business processes and identify risks, opportunities and improvements.
• Support cross-functional teams with financial analysis and commercial insights.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CFA, are advantageous.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, data analysis, or a related role.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analysis skills.
• Experience with financial software and business intelligence tools such as Power BI and SQL.
• Ability to translate financial insights into clear, actionable recommendations
• High level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
• Good understanding of budget, forecasting and viability principles.
• Strong grasp and understanding of accounting principles and rules.
