    Financial Controller

    Purpose of Role:

    • The Regional Financial Controller will take overall responsibility for the payroll function for the entire region with the Payroll Manager reporting directly into this position. The successful incumbent will take ownership of internal compliance scorecard testing.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
    • Account receivables: Managing the Account Receivables function for the entire region: The Regional Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the Credit Manager reporting into this role is meeting the Service Level Agreements with various operating entities within the territory, and leading the Accounts Receivable department to ensure targets are met.
    • Payroll Function: Taking overall responsibility for the Payroll function for the entire region: The Regional Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring the Payroll Manager is meeting payment and reporting deadlines, reviewing the weekly/monthly payroll files, and approving them in line with group compliance.
    • Internal compliance: Internal compliance scorecard testing: The Regional Financial Controller will take ownership of the internal compliance scorecard testing, planning, executing, and supporting the rolling review plan. They will also work on drawing up internal compliance reviews and ensuring all legal obligations are met.
    • Accounting: Assisting the Senior Accountants where necessary: The Regional Financial Controller will take the lead in assisting the senior accountant with the annual reviews, managing budgets and forecasting within their area of responsibility meet all their reporting requirements and deadlines as determined by Group and Divisional Management.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Applicable qualification(s) in accounting, commerce and/or finance
    • Professional Accounting qualification, such as CA (SA), ACCA, or CIMA (completed articles)
    • Relevant work experience in accounting or finance, particularly in areas related to the specific responsibilities of the role such as Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Compliance, Auditing, and Budgeting. Ideally, successful candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles.
    • Knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software (This will be important to perform data analysis and reporting tasks, and to manage internal controls and compliance procedures).
    • Manufacturing experience (minimum 3 years) will be ideal but not limited
    • Experience working with African entities (other than South Africa) will be beneficial
