    Fleet Manager (Logistics) (Centurion)

    Description

    • To manage and oversee the company’s fleet of vehicles among others, trucks, bakkies, tractors, trailers, front loaders etc. to ensure efficient utilisation, cost control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the procurement of new fleet vehicles as well as the disposal/sale of old vehicles, and coordinate and oversee the maintenance of the fleet., optimising scheduling, ensuring safety, and delivering on key logistics performance objectives.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation.
    • Proven experience managing a large fleet and implementing operational improvements.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Oversee daily fleet operations to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to reduce vehicle breakdowns.
    • Monitor and manage fleet budgets, focusing on fuel, repairs, and maintenance cost control.
    • Ensure compliance with transport laws, safety regulations, and licensing requirements.
    • Utilise fleet management systems to track performance, produce reports, and recommend technology-driven improvements.
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team of Fleet Supervisors, Drivers, and Technicians.
    • Enforce safety protocols and provide continuous driver training.

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

    • Strong knowledge of fleet management systems and GPS tracking software.
    • Expertise in vehicle maintenance schedules and repair coordination.
    • Skills in cost optimisation, contract management, and budget control.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and technology-based solutions.
    • In-depth understanding of transport laws, safety regulations, and fleet licensing.

    • Detail-oriented with a focus on efficiency and cost control.
    • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
