    Fruit Farm Manager – FM1747

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Suitable tertiary qualifications in line with the industry will be beneficial such as a BSc, B.Agric or BCom or BTech degrees and/or diplomas
    • 10 years’ experience on a macadamia and avocado farm, preferably at least 5 years as manager.
    • Experience with the farming of cattle will be beneficial, but is not a requirement.
    • Code 10 or Code 14 driver’s licence will be beneficial, but is not a requirement.
    • Ability to Speak Xhosa/Zulu is advantageous

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Develop and implement plans for planting, cultivating, pruning, maintenance and harvesting avocado, macadamia nut and other crops.
    • Monitor crop conditions and make decisions regarding irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
    • Provide a detailed costing plan for the season to the CEO and financial manager for fertilization and pest control.
    • Oversee accurate irrigation schedules and maintain the irrigation network
    • Ensure that labour costs are minimized by effective utilization of personnel and minimization of overtime pay.
    • Monitor financial performance of the various crops and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
    • Allocate tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient and productive farm operations.
    • Ensure compliance with Global GAP and Siza policies and complete and manage the audit process.
    • Develop and expand the market for produce.
    • Oversee the maintenance of buildings, fences, roads and other infrastructure and general farm safety and security.
