    General Manager: Digital Marketing

    The General Manager Digital Marketing is accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Drive alignment of digital marketing strategy (mobile, online, search, social, content) with business and brand strategy.
    • Be accountable for brand alignment and implementation across MTN Digital Services and MTN Financial Services
    • Develop frameworks to enable relevant and consistent messaging in line with brand priorities across all operating companies
    • Develop models and frameworks to drive positive ROI / ROO on digital marketing spend
    • Drive positive gap to competitor in all digital marketing activities in support of pro-customer market positioning
    • Recommend and ensure implementation of effective measurement tools to track digital marketing performance
    • Ensure effective implementation of the strategy at Manco and support the implementation in OpCos
    • Lead UI and UX initiatives in line with global and category best practice to deliver brand priorities and consistent implementation
    • Lead and support direct and indirect teams and actively contribute to enabling positive and engaged team dynamics

    Role Dependencies

    • Understanding of the Opcos’ marketing context
    • MTN corporate policies and procedures
    • Digital Media Landscape
    • Relationships with industry players

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education:

    •       Minimum of 4 year tertiary Business/Commercial/Marketing Degree
    •      MBA or Masters in relevant field of study

    Experience:

    •  8-10 years of strong work experience in relevant role
    • 5-8 years of Senior Management track record
    • Leadership in delivery of digital best practices
    • Experience in leading change / transformation
    • Experience in Consumer Experience leading practices and trends
    • Solid experience in aligning and delivering brand expression across digital platforms and touchpoints
    • Experience in Telecommunications industries

    Competencies:

    • Mature management skills gaining credibility with People and Stakeholder: Ability to get along with, listen to, speak to, and manage people’s expectations. Strong communication skills at all levels and the ability to easily collaborate with teams, internal / external stakeholders.
    • Problem Solving skills: Analytical and critical thinking are essential in evaluating problems and reaching solutions. This skill requires at times logical methodical approach and in other situations creativity and lateral thinking. Persuasion and negotiation will be also important.
    •  Analytical and Content skills: Knowing how to structure and present complex issues, crunching massive data, organizing complicated insights from multiple data sources.
    • Execution and Implementation Skills: Reliability, results-oriented, proven track record of delivery and can-do attitude.
    • Challenger mind-set: Ability to engage with senior business stakeholders and challenge the status quo utilizing data analytics and problem-solving capabilities
    • Holistic View and Attention to Detail: Balancing the big picture view and attention to detail is a crucial skill to build trust with stakeholders at all levels. Developing strategies and producing error-free deliverables, shows that the GTI office is thorough and recommendations are solid.
    • Prioritisation management: Ability to make best out of the allocated time and resources
