Seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the strategic and operational performance of a heavy vehicle transport division. The role oversees fleet management, operational teams, compliance, safety, efficiency, and profitability, with full accountability for the performance of the business unit and reporting to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall transport and fleet operation, aligning performance with business objectives.
Manage and develop Fleet Supervisors, Controllers and driver teams.
Optimize route planning, scheduling, fleet utilization and turnaround times.
Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, RTMS and safety standards.
Drive fleet performance across uptime, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs and profitability.
Manage departmental budgets, cost controls and financial performance.
Maintain strong client relationships and SLA performance.
Lead recruitment, performance management and staff development.
Prepare and present operational and financial reports to senior leadership.
Identify opportunities for fleet growth, process improvement and technology adoption.
Experience Required
8–10 years’ transport/logistics experience, including 3–5 years in senior management.
Proven leadership of multi-level teams within heavy vehicle transport operations.
Strong commercial, budgeting and cost-management skills.
Sound knowledge of road transport legislation, RTMS and safety compliance.
PBS vehicle operations experience advantageous.
Experience with fleet management and telematics systems.
