    General Manager - Risk and Regulatory Fintech CEO's Office

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Improved MFS risk management
    • Improved compliance levels in MFS
    •  Optimized processes, new initiatives and improved operations/ways of work 
    • Improved corporate citizenship
    • Enhanced relationships with Regulators
    • Successful implementation of MTN Group & MTNSA transformation initiatives

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key Tasks: Indicates those KPA’s that are essential to the position itself. These are normally specific to the incumbent, the job, and the function. Excludes role and leadership / management.

    Strategy Implementation

    • Implement the MFS Risk & Regulatory strategy that is aligned to business and Group MFS ambitions 
    • Provide strategic oversight for Regulatory activities
    • Ensure implementation, compliance & adherence to standards, processes & guidelines defined by Group MFS Legal & Regulatory team , as applicable

    Regulatory Governance

    • Ensure policy, procedures, and guidelines are driven in alignment with OPCO and Group Legal, Risk, and  provide regulatory guidance
    • Act as primary contact with regulators, planning and executing successful regulatory agency meetings and engagements
    • Lead  company interactions with the relevant governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large
    • Keep abreast of and respond to potential changes driven by the local regulators, industry, marketplace, and/or legal environment and report these back to management to ensure company alignment
    • Develop and execute  AML/CTF and Compliance initiatives and programs to comply with the legal, regulatory and licensing requirements
    • Ensure MFS business is compliant to all laws of Country, policies, best practice and processes
    • Provide advice and guidance to Senior Management regarding the interpretation of legislation

    Risk Management

    • Ensure Risk and Compliance management policy, framework, methodology, and systems are kept up to date
    • Drive a Risk-aware culture in MFS including ensuring relevant staff are adequately informed and trained when necessary 
    • Manage the risk exposures that pose either internal or external threats for MFS
    • Ensure MFS business is compliant to all laws of Country, policies, best practice and processes

    People & Culture Management

    • Provide technical, procedural and policy guidance to staff, colleagues , partners and vendors
    • Attract, develop and retain appropriate talent. Build talent by identifying and developing new leaders for the respective environment
      • Create and implement personal development plans
      • Define the divisional KPAs and KPIs that will be cascaded down to each area
      • Manage Performance and identify training needs. Coach and guide subordinates
      • Enable and model healthy employee relations and collaborative teamwork
      • Manage diversity, develop, and embed an Employment Equity plan for the business area
    • Contribute to building a culture  of continuous evaluation and improvement. Drive a culture of high performance, accountability and consequence management
    • Act as an ambassador for the MFS team by living the Brand values and vital behaviours and changing and influencing employees’  behaviour

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: 

    • Degree in Business Administration /  Risk Management / Bachelor in Finance) or other related discipline 
    • An MBA or a Masters qualification in a related field would be advantageous

    Experience: 

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience including:
    • Minimum 5 years of Senior Management Experience
    • Minimum 5 years in telecommunications industry
    • Work across diverse cultures and geographies
    • In depth understanding of Financial Services 
    • Thorough knowledge of relevant
