    General Manager Substations

    To direct and control all Substation tenders and projects. Provide overall leadership and direction to ensure CONCO achieves its vision, mission, goals and objectives.


    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

    • Align Substation division’s Strategy to the CONCO Strategy
    • Annual Divisional budget
    • Quarterly Divisional Board reports
    • Managing relationships with CONCO Exco and stakeholders


    BUSINESS UNIT PERFORMANCE

    • Pro-actively identify areas of improvement in Divisional Performance and make recommendations to Exco
    • Ensure rigorous monthly project reviews and implement immediate corrective measures on projects at risk
    • Responsible to set and communicate business unit strategy
    • Understand local and international trends that may impact the business unit
    • Grow Divisional profits
    • Expand business into new markets
    • Report on all new Divisional tenders, prospective tenders, split between SA and Africa
    • Divisional sales performance, overall order book, new business, sales efficiency and hit rate
    • Design and implement compliant business support processes that enable effective management and control, but are efficient


    RISK MANAGEMENT

    • Responsible for Governance and Legal Compliance issues as it relate to Division
    • Overall health, safety and quality compliance within Division;
    • Tender risk profile outside BU mandate: value according to level of authority, new customers, new countries.

    LEADERSHIP

    • Monitor the well being of staff, facilities etc.
    • Attract, recruit, develop and retain top talent
    • Ensure regular Performance discussions with Staff
    • Develop Staff members
    • Coaching / Mentoring
    • Ensure regular Performance discussions with direct reports
    • Deliver Divisional transformation objectives.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

    • B. ENG Electrical Engineering / B. Tech Electrical Engineering
    • Minimum of 8-10 years experience in Substations
    • Project Management Experience
    • Minimum of 5 year Senior Management Experience
    • Business Knowledge: Managing a business with full responsibility for all functions of the business (Strategy, Business performance, Financials, Leadership, Operations, Project Management and People)
