Group Leader Engineering & Technical Support - Pinetown at MAN Automotive (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd

Description

• Manage staff & projects and prioritise work as per agreed deadlines
• Conduct weekly meetings with staff to ensure project status is reported and updated
• Design & manage prototype & series production parts in 2D & 3D models
• Use CATIA, INVENTOR & AUTOCAD drawing software to create models
• Create and maintain local parts with the prefix 56’ in the Engineering systems
• Ensure that the R&D processes, MAN NORMS, DIN specifications and MAN guidelines are adhered to
• Responsible for key projects from inception of design to final product
• Ensure that technical information is available and deadlines are met
• Manage BOM creation & maintain local content of various model types as agreed with stakeholders
• Create, maintain and release of gross requirements of parts per vehicle
• Perform ongoing checks and corrective measures where necessary
• Download, import & manage CKD BOM for existing & new models to continuously improve processes
• Create & maintain database of vehicle details using MANEC/ECON per approved models for CKD ordering
• Verifiy all CBU specifications for technical viability & impact on local conditions
• Check and update orders following agreed processes
• Update vehicle specifications database to the latest level of MANEC/ECON
• Manage technical change activities & processes
• Support the Logistics department with picking lists & related comparisons
• Supervise the printing of maker’s plates for production vehicles
• Supervise the creation and maintenance of process documentation for all models & updates

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Relevant technical qualification (Engineering Degree / Diploma)

Skills:

• Proficient knowledge of CATIA, INVENTOR and AUTOCAD drawing and design software
• Working knowledge of road transport legislation and vehicle data plating
• Working knowledge of Bills of Materials Related IT programming knowledge
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
• Good communication (oral and written) 
• Interpersonal relations skills
• A focus on quality and output performance

Experience:

• Technical experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment - 5 years
