Group Specialist: Manufacturing ERP Solutions (Durban North) at Aspen Pharma Group

ROLE PURPOSE

• Strategic and tactical role in the Digital Technology organisation, accountable for the design, configuration, enablement, support and continuous improvement of Manufacturing ERP solutions to support current and future business needs.
• In addition to technology components, ERP solution design and delivery encompasses changes to service components, business processes, organisational structures, and operating models. The role provides comprehensive guidance on the development of, and modifications to, ERP solution components to ensure alignment with relevant architectures, strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including quality and security), and to ensure that existing and planned solution components remain compatible and interoperable.
• In support of the ERP manufacturing solution ownership model, this role contributes to the end‑to‑end lifecycle management of the Group SAP landscape, with a strong focus on SAP S/4HANA, in specifically PP, PPDS, PM, QM, EWM and CO modules and associated integrations. The incumbent ensures that platform enhancements, release activities, data integrity controls, and operational performance are executed in line with approved roadmaps, governance standards, and regulatory, audit, and quality expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports the development and execution of Manufacturing ERP solutions integration and build capabilities, including SAP manufacturing related modules, extended functionality, and integrated enterprise systems.
• Contributes to the development and application of policies, standards, and guidelines for ERP solution configuration, integration, build and support.
• Ensures ERP build and support activities operate effectively and in accordance with approved architecture, security, and quality standards.
• Designs and implements ERP solution architectures and configurations for complex requirements, ensuring consistency with agreed functional, technical, and regulatory requirements.
• Develops and maintains solution components across ERP Manufacturing modules, including configuration, enhancements, and extensions.
• Supports automation and continuous integration practices for ERP build, testing, security, and deployment activities.
• Ensures security, privacy, data integrity, and segregation of duties controls are embedded in ERP designs and configurations.
• Performs and supports testing, validation, and formal sign off of ERP enhancements, integrations, and releases in line with governance requirements.
• Keeps stakeholders informed on ERP delivery activities and provides structured input into risk and issue management processes.
• Supports the selection and use of ERP and related solution components, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and clean core principles.
• Manages design and delivery trade offs between functionality, service quality, risk, and long term platform sustainability.
• Contributes to the coordination of the target ERP architecture across multiple projects and initiatives.
• Ensures ERP solution designs remain stable, viable, and consistent across releases and environments.
• Supports the definition of ERP operational and support models, including handover, documentation, and run state readiness.
• Ensures ERP solution components remain compatible with enterprise architectures, strategies, policies, and standards.
• Contributes to the development and execution of ERP manufacturing solution roadmaps, including upgrades, enhancements, and lifecycle activities.
• Acts as a solution specialist for ERP manufacturing solutions supporting innovation and extensibility.
• Provides risk based solution governance, including the assessment of change requests and deviations from approved designs.
• Works with business and technology stakeholders to interpret business requirements and drivers into effective ERP solutions.
• Supports stakeholder engagement and ensures alignment and buy in for ERP solution designs and delivery outcomes.
• Assists in identifying technology, market, and regulatory trends that may impact the ERP landscape.
• Contributes to the development of business cases and solution options for ERP initiatives and enhancements.
• Determines and documents requirements and supports improvements to ERP enabled business processes through technology, data, and configuration changes.

Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent work experience
• Relevant SAP certifications (e.g. S/4HANA, Manufacturing modules) advantageous
• Business Process Management and delivery methodologies (e.g. BPM, SDLC, ITIL, DevOps, Agile, COBIT)
• 8 to 10+ years’ experience working with enterprise ERP platforms in a complex organisational environment
• Proven experience delivering end-to-end solutions and supporting SAP‑based solutions across multiple business domains
• Strong experience working with internal business customers and cross‑functional teams
• Experience in implementing and supporting ERP integrations with adjacent platforms (e.g. MES, LIMS)
• Exposure to regulated or audit‑driven environments beneficial
