HAST Counsellor/ Driver - Queenstown at TB HIV Care

Purpose of the position:

• To provide counselling services and become an integral part of the broader comprehensive care and treatment counselling team in a non-clinical site and/or community that links the community into care. The HAST Counsellor Driver will also transport teams and equipment to and from different locations.

Minimum Requirements    

• Senior Certificate (Grade 12/Matric)
• Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence with PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
• 3 years’ driving experience
• Accredited training certificates: Basic HIV information course, Intensive Counselling course and Adherence Counselling course
• Finger prick certificate
• Ability to communicate in IsiXhosa, English or another South African language

Duties and Responsibilities    

• Transport the HTS team and equipment to and from different locations
• Provide education on HIV/TB/STI prevention,risk reduction planning, correct condom usage and living positively
• Promote HIV counselling and testing and condom use with screening for TB and STI
• Data Collection
• Appropriate referral of all new cases- HIV, TB and STI
• Infection Control
