Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Neurosurgery or a recognized sub-Specialty. HPCSA registration as Medical Specialist in Neurosurgery or in a recognized Sub-Specialty.
A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Neurosegery or in a recognized Sub-Specialty.
Duties :
Lead and manage the discipline across all cluster, hospital and CMJAH. Formulate an academic vision and designs, and execute both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in line with the vision. Strengthen research in the division. Provide tools and create an academic environment for optimal teaching and favourable environment for clinical service delivery.
Maintain clinical and academic excellence. Promote staff development and manage staff performance and assessment. Mentor academic and professional staff for promotion.
Provide support to other Hospital services/departments. Sound financial and Human Resources management. Attend hospital management meetings, theatre committee meetings. contribute to the leadership of the cluster by participating in the management. Keeping records. Perform any other duties relevant to the clinical management of patients. Training and Teaching: Advice and supervise Registrars. Formal teaching to postgraduate and undergraduate staff.
Review of current literature and research. Attend appropriate CME updates. Develop diagnostic surgical skills amongst junior staff. Research: Participate in research within the department, to improve knowledge and critical outcomes.
