Head of Department: CAT - Delft at Curro Holdings Ltd

Key performance areas

• Curriculum planning & academics: Align subject policies with IEB and Curro requirements, oversee assessments, moderation, and systemic testing.
• Staff management: Interview, mentor, and manage subject teachers; conduct class visits; ensure compliance with policies and weekly extra lessons.
• Extra-curricular activities: Coordinate Olympiads, public speaking, entrepreneur’s days, and subject-related events.
• Reporting & meetings: Analyse results termly, compile reports, and collaborate with other Curro schools.
• Teaching & assessment: Deliver interactive lessons, set and moderate assessments, manage homework schedules, and track learner progress.
• Extramural coordination: Manage assigned extramural activities, attend fixtures, outings, and school events.

Qualifications, experience and skills

• Minimum qualification: BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education, with an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject/s) advantageous
• Experience: 3–5 years as Department/Subject Head, with exposure to multiple grades including Matric.
• Legal requirement: SACE registration.
• Skills: Microsoft Office, research, problem-solving, report writing, facilitation.
• Attributes: Communication, empathy, planning & organising, resilience, emotional control, attention to detail, mentoring.

Special Requirements

• Willingness to work overtime and additional hours when required.
