    Head of Procurement

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Job Purpose 

    The Head of Procurement will be a strategic and visionary leader responsible for managing the company's procurement function. This position will be responsible for leading the development and execution of strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the latest procurement strategies, tools, and processes, as well as a strong financial acumen. The Head of Procurement will also be expected to partner with other departments to ensure that the company is achieving its purchasing objectives. 

    The incumbent serves as a primary point of contact between a business and its suppliers. Identifies potential suppliers, screens them, and negotiates favorable payment terms with selected suppliers.  Is responsible to monitor  supplier performance to ensure contractual obligations are met and to help make the supply procurement process as cost-effective and efficient as possible. Aside from dealing with external suppliers, the works with managers, project team, engineers, and EXCO  within the company to engage in capital projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Planning, directing and coordinating the activities of sources and buyers in procurement of materials, products, and services.
    • Providing efficient procurement and inventory control services .
    • Securing the company’s requirements of materials, equipment, consumables and services in convenient quality, price and timing from the best sources locally and/or internationally in accordance with approved systems and regulations, and consequently contribute in the company resources optimization.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies, procedures and procurement charter in line with audit requirements
    • Represents the company in negotiating contracts and formulating supplier agreements.
    • Involved in the CAPEX tendering processing, sourcing suppliers and quotes, and ensure accuracy / appropriateness of products / services and pricing - Maintain effective supplier relationships and evaluate / audit suppliers frequently and ensure alignment to company policies
    • Review and approve requisitions and purchase orders for services, products and equipment where applicable.
    • Leadership of cross-functional teams across other Brits Business functions.
    • Provide periodic reporting for management on Procurement , controls and processes.
    • All such duties and / or activities assigned by management as and when required
    • Rand measures: (Department budgets, operating costs controlled, sales revenue etc. State all figures on an annual basis for the current financial year):
    • Cost Savings
    • E-procurement where applicable.
    •  Provides input where required to the Accounts Payable teams / activities  ensuring operational  compliance with relevant procedures and regulations.
    • Managing  the skills ands competency development of  the Brits procurement staff.
    • Ensure alignment of Procurement practices to Company’s sustainability objectives.
       

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma minimum, in Procurement/Supply Chain/ Business Management or relevant qualification.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain management, logistics, or business administration is preferable
    • CIPS Certification advantageous
    • 5 - 8 years minimum experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement related role, within a manufacturing environment
    • Proven track record in managing procurement team and commodities in an international company
    • Experience on SAP
    • Experience on SAP Ariba
    • Extensive experience in procurement and supply chain management
    • Proven track record of negotiating favorable terms and conditions with suppliers
    • Knowledge of contract law and relevant industry regulations
    • Proficient in financial planning and budget management
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
