    Health and Safety Manager

    • The Health and Safety Manager will oversee all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and adherence to the Employer’s safety policies. The incumbent will develop and implement safety plans, conduct risk assessments, and ensure a safe working environment for all project personnel.
    • 2 year Project
    • Based in Durban (must live in Durban or have own accommodation)
    • National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
    • Registered as a Health and Safety Manager with SACPCMP.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction projects, with a focus on pipeline and infrastructure works.
    • Experience working with NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts.
    • Expertise in developing and implementing safety plans and risk assessments.
    • Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.
    • Advanced certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., ISO 45001 Lead Auditor).
    • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects in urban environments.

    Health and Safety Compliance

    • Develop and implement a project-specific Health and Safety Plan (HSP).
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant South African health and safety legislation.
    • Enforce SACPCMP and project-specific HSE standards.

    Risk Management

    • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify safety hazards on-site.
    • Develop mitigation strategies to eliminate or reduce safety risks.
    • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

    Training and Awareness

    • Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks for all site personnel.
    • Provide specialized training on working with pipelines and heavy equipment.
    • Promote a safety culture through ongoing education and awareness programs.

    Monitoring and Reporting

    • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly safety reports to the Project Director.
    • Maintain records of safety incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Liaise with the SACPCMP and other regulatory bodies on HSE compliance.
    • Collaborate with the Employer, contractors, and stakeholders to address safety concerns.
