A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a B.Tech: Environmental Health
Active Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for Independent Practice.
Between 5-8 years relevant experience in Environmental Health is required
Minimum 2 3 years supervisory experience
Peace Officer Qualification
Valid Code EB/B Driver’s License
Computers: Ms Word; Ms Excel; PowerPoint
Physical Fitness and able bodied
Willingness to work in Red Zone areas;
Willingness to work afterhours on occasions depending on service needs
Key Performance Areas
To identify and define the immediate, short and long term objectives of EH, to ensure critical performance indicators are met and specific measures established
Ensure EH staff conduct the necessary inspections in the allocated areas within the Sub District to ensure compliance to all health legislation.
Manage and control the work programmes and services of an office, with the intent to protect the health of the public
To identify, plan and implement projects in informal settlements in a defined geographical area, to ensure all legislated functions, standards, projects and activities of EH are addressed to uphold a professional image of the Sub District.
Ensure the availability of all applicable legislations at the EH office and manage the enforcement hereof by the EHPs in line with the Criminal Procedures Act (CPA)
To co-ordinate the collection of EH information by EH staff to ensure an efficient and effective EH information system is provided and maintained.
Ensure submission and analysis of data and the identification of trends to influence the re-alignment of Business Plan
