    HR Consultant (Randburg)

    Job Purpose

    • The Human Resources Consultant is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management within designated business units. The role serves as a strategic partner to operations by driving people initiatives, improving employee engagement, and ensuring effective management of employee relations to support overall organisational performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic Business Partnering

    • Partner with operational leadership to align HR strategies with business goals.
    • Provide insight and recommendations on workforce planning, structure, and productivity.
    • Support the delivery of a high-performance culture.

    Employee Relations Management

    • Manage and advise on disciplinary processes, grievances, and investigations.
    • Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant handling of all employee relations matters.
    • Represent the organisation in internal hearings and external forums where required.

    Performance Management

    • Support the implementation of performance management processes, including Performance Enhancement Programmes (PEP).
    • Coach managers on managing underperformance and recognising high performance.
    • Ensure consistency and fairness in performance management practices.

    Attendance and Absenteeism Management

    • Monitor attendance trends and identify areas of concern.
    • Work with operations to implement interventions to reduce absenteeism.
    • Support managers in managing excessive absenteeism cases.

    Talent Management and Development

    • Identify talent gaps and support succession planning initiatives.
    • Facilitate employee development and training interventions.
    • Support leadership development within operational teams.

    Recruitment and Onboarding

    • Support recruitment processes in collaboration with hiring managers.
    • Ensure effective onboarding and induction of new employees.
    • Drive initiatives to improve new hire integration and retention.

    Employee Engagement and Culture

    • Drive employee engagement initiatives and workplace culture programmes.
    • Conduct employee check-ins, engagement sessions, and feedback initiatives.
    • Support wellbeing and wellness programmes.

    HR Compliance and Governance

    • Ensure compliance with labour legislation and company policies.
    • Maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
    • Mitigate HR-related risks to the organisation.

    HR Reporting and Analytics

    • Analyse HR data (attrition, absenteeism, ER cases, performance trends).
    • Provide regular HR reports and insights to management.
    • Use data to drive proactive HR interventions.

    Requirements

    Competencies

    • Microsoft office, especially Excel
    • MS Excel and reporting tools
    • Strong knowledge of South African Labour legislation:
    • Labour Relations Act (LRA)
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
    • Employment Equity Act (EEA)
    • Strong business and operational understanding
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Conflict resolution and problem-solving ability
    • Analytical and data-driven decision making
    • Ability to influence and build relationships
    • High level of integrity and confidentiality

    Education

    • Grade 12
    • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field

    Experience

    • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in an HR generalist role. 
    • Experience in a contact centre -sales environment is advantageous
