    HSE Specialist- 1 year Fixed Term Contract

    The Job

    You will be working as a Health, Safety and Efficacy (HSE) Specialist and will be the part of Industrial Automation Business area for Energy Industries Division based in Modderfoentein, South Africa. In this role, you will be reporting to the Safety Lead and will be responsible for contributing to improve Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) performance within assigned geography. You will also be supporting the business by applying in-depth knowledge to offer solutions and advice through delivery of group-wide performance improvement programs or group audit program.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Governance: Delivering and deploying OHS training, audit and group-wide performance improvement programs to the Divisions and Local Business Units
    • Metrics: Providing analysis of OHS data within area of responsibility. Reporting on progress on implementation of sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) as required.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Contributing to assess emerging OHS trends and legislation and communicates relevant information on legal requirements within area of expertise and geography. Supporting constituent countries to operate in compliance with standards and respective legal obligations.
    • Risk Management: Delivering audit (as per group audit program) and support follow up of improvement actions in the Local Business Units.
    • Operational Support: Contributing to drive behavioral change and continuous improvement though delivery of training and competence initiatives and expert support to the Local Business Units in line with yearly HSE Plan agreed with the Business Units. Supporting the sharing of best practice. Coordinating reports on OHS performance and supporting delivery of group audit program.
    • Communication and Engagement: Cooperating across functions and with business partners to raise awareness of OHS standards and initiatives. Driving performance, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility for the CoE.
    • Project management: Contributing, planning and executing OHS performance and related projects. Developing and reporting on project objectives. Managing project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.

    Your background

    • A National Diploma, B.Tech, or similar degree in Safety Management.
    • Minimum 1-year HSE experience in Project or Power Station Construction environment.
    • Preferred to have courses aligned to construction project activity (NEBOSH, HIRA training, HSE auditing and inspection, Incident investigation).
    • Candidate should have expertise with HSE Management Systems.
    • Required good understanding of South African HSE legislations.
    • Candidate should have experience in Working with contractors specifically in the power plant construction site
    • Background with construction and Engineering project HSE experience would be preferred.
