Hybrid Engineer – Infrastructure & BCDR Focus at Kontak Recruitment

The successful candidate will work across both managed services and project-based engagements, bringing expertise in Veeam, virtualisation, hybrid cloud, and disaster recovery to help customers build more resilient and future-ready environments. Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Senior Certificate) is essential
• VMCE certification is preferred and will be a strong advantage in selection
• Microsoft Azure certifications are advantageous
• VMware and/or AWS certifications are advantageous
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in infrastructure support, backup and disaster recovery, virtualisation platforms, and hybrid cloud environments
• Proven experience in an MSP or multi-customer support environment
• Strong practical experience with Veeam Backup and Replication, including Backup Copy Jobs, Veeam Replication, SureBackup, hardened repositories, and offsite backup design
• Solid hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery methodologies, backup retention strategies, business continuity principles, and ransomware recovery
• Exposure to Veeam Data Cloud is advantageous
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS infrastructure environments
• Familiarity with Windows Server infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File Services, and hybrid connectivity solutions such as VPNs and site-to-site integrations

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain Veeam Backup and Replication environments across multiple customer sites
• Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions tailored to customer requirements
• Perform backup validation testing and disaster recovery simulations to verify recovery readiness
• Configure and manage immutable backups, replication, offsite retention, and ransomware recovery strategies
• Assist customers with DR planning, RPO and RTO alignment, and resilience assessments
• Troubleshoot backup failures, replication issues, and recovery operations across hybrid environments
• Support backup and recovery for VMware, Hyper-V, physical servers, NAS workloads, and cloud-hosted infrastructure
• Assist with the implementation and support of Veeam Data Cloud solutions and cloud-based backup services
• Manage and support Hyper-V and VMware virtualised environments across multiple customer environments
• Administer Windows Server infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and File Services
• Participate in infrastructure modernisation and migration projects
• Configure and maintain hybrid connectivity solutions including VPNs and site-to-site integrations
• Assist with infrastructure failover, recovery testing, and DR readiness activities
• Act as a high-tier escalation point for infrastructure and DR-related incidents
• Participate in infrastructure discovery workshops and resilience assessments
• Assist with pre-sales scoping, technical discovery, and solution design activities
• Produce technical documentation, DR runbooks, and customer-facing reports
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve customer resilience, backup posture, and operational maturity
• Work collaboratively with internal technical and account management teams to deliver strong customer outcomes
