    ICT Systems Engineer (Network and Internet Security)

    Job purpose

    • To design, implement, manage and continuously improve the organisation’s cybersecurity infrastructure in order to protect information systems, networks, applications and data from cyber threats

    Appointment requirements

    • An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or any ICT-related study field
    • The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage: Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate; Microsoft Certified Cloud Security
    • At least three years’ experience in enterprise cybersecurity, ICT security operations or systems engineering in a medium-to-large ICT environment
    • A valid Code B driving licence
    • Computer literacy
    • Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

    Personal attributes and/or competencies

    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy; ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks; excellent communication and documentation skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; ability to respond effectively during system outages and disaster recovery situations; commitment to maintaining data integrity, security and compliance

    Primary functions

    • Implement, administer and maintain enterprise cybersecurity technologies and controls to protect the City’s ICT infrastructure, systems and information assets
    • Monitor, detect, investigate and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents to minimise risk and ensure the resilience of ICT services
    • Implement cybersecurity governance, risk management and compliance measures in order to ensure adherence to organisational policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements
    • Promote continuous improvement of cybersecurity capabilities through technical guidance, collaboration, cyber resilience initiatives and the implementation of emerging security technologies
