    Industrial Relations Officer - EC

    Purpose of the role:

    The Industrial Relations Officer will be responsible for managing and maintaining positive relationships between the company and its employees, as well as handling any disputes or grievances that may arise. The role will involve working closely with both staff and management to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum Grade 12 with at least a diploma in Industrial Relations with a degree in Industrial Relations a distinct advantage
    • At least 5 years IR Experience of CCMA and working in a unionized environment.
    • Must have represented and presented Arbitration cases at the CCMA.
    • Driver’s License

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Providing Industrial Relations advise to all staff in compliance with the Industrial Relations Policy and Procedure manual and in accordance with the Labour Relations Act and the relevant Codes of Good Practice.
    • Developing sound relationships with trade unions that have members within the company.
    • Ensuring compliance by all staff to the Disciplinary Procedure and Disciplinary Code.
    • Resolving and advising management on grievance hearings
    • Attending to and representing company at Conciliations, Con/Arbs and Arbitrations at the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.
    • Attending to any shop floor bargaining not covered in terms of a Sectoral Determination or Bargaining Council Main Agreement.
    • Attending to work stoppages and strikes and ensuring compliance by the company to the Labour Relations Act. 
    • Attending to Bargaining Council Meetings
    • Advising company management on the interpretation and application of Policies and Procedures
    • Entering problem solving arrangements with unions as an alternative to statutory dispute resolution processes
    • Resolving labour conflict by building relations with employer bodies and unions.
    • Assisting managers in dealing with disputes that progress to the CCMA or industry bargaining councils.
    • Assist in identifying specific Industrial Relations training requirements.
    • Assist in conducting the necessary training, alternatively arranging specialists in the field to run training courses for company management and / or personnel.
