    Industrial Relations Trainee

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assist in the management of the day-to-day employee relations activities, including but not limited to, employee grievances, investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and dispute resolution
    • Collaborate with the Industrial Relations Officer & Manager to develop and implement employee relations policies and procedures that foster a harmonious work environment and comply with labour laws
    • Conduct research on labour legislation, industry trends, and best practices to ensure compliance and recommend appropriate actions
    • Assist in coordinating and conducting training sessions to educate staff and managers on employee relations policies, procedures, and applicable labour regulations
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to grievances, arbitration cases, and labour relations activities
    • Participate in conducting workplace investigations and prepare reports on findings, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity throughout the process
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance employee engagement initiatives, promote teamwork, and resolve work-related issues
    • Stay informed about changes in labour laws, union activities, and industrial relations practices to provide regular updates to the Industrial Relations Manager and appropriate stakeholders

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Willingness to pursue further studies in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a related field  
    • Multilingual (English, Afrikaans and isiZulu)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
    • Computer literate
