Infrastructure Technical Platform Owner (NAR) at Nedbank

Job Purpose

• An Infrastructure Technical Platform Owner, implements, and manages IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud services, to ensure performance, security, and reliability for business operations.
• Key responsibilities involve leading infrastructure design initiatives, setting strategy, mentoring teams, and collaborating with stakeholders to align technology with business objectives. The role requires strong technical expertise in cloud and on-prem technologies, security, and network architecture, along with project management and communication skills. A key focus must be on designing for resiliency, high availability and the remediation of single-points-of-failure.
• Beyond the core responsibilities of the role, the incumbent will be expected to lead the technology modernisation and transformation agenda across Nedbank Africa Regions.
• A key priority will be driving the evolution of the core banking landscape, transitioning from legacy platforms to modern, future-ready solutions that enhance agility, scalability, and customer experience, while ensuring compliance with region-specific regulatory, operational, and market requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Strategic Design & Planning Contribute to the development and execution of IT infrastructure roadmaps, including designing and implementing solutions for network, server, and cloud environments.
• Team Leadership & Mentoring Lead and mentor IT professionals, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Performance & Reliability Ensure the uptime, performance, and reliability of IT systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Security & Compliance Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, enforce security policies, and ensure compliance with governance frameworks.
• Budget Management Oversee IT infrastructure budgets and manage vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Collaboration Work with other IT leaders and departments to support business initiatives and address technology needs.
• Technical Expertise Provide technical assistance and maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant technologies, such as cloud platforms, on-prem platforms, networking, virtualization, and automation tools.
• Technical Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve complex technology issues affecting hardware, software, and networks.
• Cross-Functional Coordination Work with various departments, vendors, and external technical support to address issues effectively.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Expertise in network architecture, security, and high-availability designs.
• Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with automation, scripting (e.g., Python), and CI/CD pipelines
