    Internal Audit Learnership

    In this role you will:

    • Build and maintain good relationships with the business and key stakeholders at Ninety One by engendering trust and co-operation with the business, as a business partner, without losing the independence of the 3rd Line of Defence, this is a key attribute
    • Possess a thorough understanding and application of the Ninety One Internal Audit methodology

    Assist the Internal Audit team in the planning of reviews and determining the risks, controls, and testing strategy in line with the Internal Audit methodology

    • Detailed walk-through's for the areas assigned for each review
    • Drafting the Terms of Reference
    • Performing and documenting of audit testing as outlined in the testing strategy
    • Identifying of risks / weaknesses / issues and close out the risks / weaknesses / issues with relevant line management
    • Drafting of issues raised for inclusion in the report
    • Setting up and closing out the draft issues with line- and senior management
    • Finalizing of reports with senior management
    • Follow up and close out of issues on implementation
    • Escalate material risks and issues, when identified, to the Head of Internal Audit
    • Escalate risks / issues within the Internal Audit team during team meetings or when it arises
    • Share knowledge and experiences with the team
    • Comply with the Institute of Internal Audit’s (IIA) International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) which includes the IIA International Standards and IIA Code of Ethics
    • Ensure independence from first (line management in the business) and second (Compliance and Operational Risk) lines of defence

    Stay abreast of changes in the market, products, legislation, and regulation relevant to the areas covered (regulatory knowledge compulsory):

    • Knowledge of industry trends and applicable regulation and guidance issued by regulators
    • Knowledge of Accounting / Internal Audit Standards
    • Share knowledge of the market, products, legislation, and regulation with the broader Internal Audit Team

    You should consider applying if you have:

    • Have obtained a bachelor’s degree in a business discipline such as accounting, finance, or internal audit, and have the desire to study further to qualify as an Internal Auditor
    • Can commit to a two-year fixed term Internal Audit Learnership Contract to accumulate practical experience to become an Internal Auditor, whilst completing the Occupational Certificate: Internal Auditor, and writing and passing the examinations as prescribed by the Institute of Internal Auditors
