Internal Auditor at African Unity

The Role 

An authorised financial service provider, operating within the long-term insurance industry in South Africa, requires the services of an Internal Auditor. The permanent position is based in Bellville Cape Town.

The successful candidate’s main responsibility will be to execute audits of African Unity companies and clients to provide an independent assessment of risk management, governance and control over operational effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives, agreements and regulations. The succesful candidate will report to the Head of Internal Audit.

Tasks and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting audits, investigations and special assignments in line with the Internal Audit plan and the company requirements.
• Conducting Internal Audits independently from start to finish, either individually or part of a team, with responsibility for planning, execution, documentation of audit results and audit reporting.
• Perform peer reviews of audit working papers.
• Assist the company and its clients in identifying and reporting on risk in a proactive manner.
• Be willing to work overtime and travel nationally as and when required.
• Be committed to continued personal and professional development to ensure that his/her skills base is improved and in line with the growth of African Unity and the profession.

Experience required:

• Have at least 5 years of Internal Audit experience of which at least 3 years should be within the insurance industry;
• Effective communication skills.

Qualifications:

• 3 Year Bcom/Btech degree, with Auditing as major subject – Compulsory requirement

Remuneration: 

• Market related for someone with 5 years experience in Internal Audit
