Internship Programme at Competition Tribunal

The Competition Tribunal is one of three independent authorities established in terms of the Act. These are:

• the Competition Commission, which is the investigative and enforcement authority
• the Competition Tribunal, which adjudicates on matters referred to it by the Competition Commission, and
• the Competition Appeal Court, which considers appeals or reviews against Tribunal decisions.
• The Tribunal adjudicates on competition matters including mergers and prohibited practices (including cartels and abuse of dominance cases) andacts as a court of first instance in competition matters. • The goal of the Competition Tribunal’s learnership programme is to introduce graduates to competition economics in practice and to offer real world insights and exposure to actual working life. The Tribunal will provide graduates with on-the-job training as an Economist. Graduates will be given the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class, develop new skills and see practitioners in action when they attend Tribunal hearings.
