The Inventory Specialist is a part of the Information System Team and reports directly to the Business Application Specialist for Gauteng District. The main focus is to actively engage with site management to ensure all inventory under management is effectively stored, secured and handled according to relevant standard operating procedures. This role involves extensive use of all KN internal systems and dashboards to use the available management information for adequate decision making and appropriate action and ensure that all relevant risks regarding the inventory are highlighted and proactively dealt with. Your Responsibilities
Plan and communicate daily operational activities to the inventory team. Establish and implement relevant stock audit procedures and produce reports which can be utilised to manage risk and minimise liability
Monitor and manage operational performance in terms of SOP’s and KPI’s. Work closely with the site warehouse managers, customer services, information systems and operational teams to establish corrective and preventative action in case of KPI’s not being met
Ensure the relevant customer SOP is available and applied for each customer to clarify responsibilities within KN; this includes identifying where Work Instructions are inadequate and liaising with the Branch Logistics Manager and site warehouse managers and is responsible to ensure that a relevant SOP and work instruction is developed and implemented
Check the coherence of the logistics data of the Article Master Data File and the products. Plan and manage the daily audits, cycle and stock counts for all customers as per their requirements or K&N standards and filing thereof. Highlight additional activities that are required to enable additional costing to be submitted to the client for approval to the respective Site Warehouse Managers
Designs, creates and uses information system dashboards, reports, cycle count calendars and annual wall to wall schedules including the teams required to achieve outstanding results. Adhere to management reporting deadline in required formats
Works on the warehouse management system while learning and training others for the required functions to improve the results not limited only to performing the physical activities
Investigates and implements global best practice. Networks with global centres of excellence to gain knowledge sharing within the global organisation
Is the final responsible and accountable role for the warehouse management system alignment to the physical inventory in all aspects of the total global inventory key performance indicators for the internal and external customers, managers and key stake holders
Your Skills And Experiences
Grade 12 - Matric / Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics / Finance or equivalent will be a distinct advantage
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with a proven ability to deal with conflict and difficult customers
Analytical ability and proven problem solving skills in a similar environment
Computer literacy skills (Excel; PowerPoint) are essential, Knowledge of KN Systems: 3PL or similar Warehouse Management System knowledge is a minimum requirement
Demonstrates an agile skillset to learn and adapt quickly in a digital environment and lead continuous improvement / innovation projects in the area of automation and work task reduction
Proven ability to present qualitative and quantitative data to relevant stakeholders
Ability to work in a team and provide thought leadership when required with relevant stakeholders
Must have at least 3 years’ experience in warehouse operations and inventory management with sound knowledge of total warehouse processe
