Job Description

• Hire Resolve's client is looking for a IT Operations Manager to join their team in Johannesburg, GP. The IT Operations Manager is a critical role responsible for overseeing WAAM’s global IT operations, leading strategic IT projects, and ensuring robust compliance with regulatory frameworks. This role is the key liaison for our outsourced IT service provider and is essential in managing IT risk and driving digital innovation across the business

Key Responsibilities
IT Special Projects

• Lead and manage key digitalisation projects to enhance operational efficiency across the business.
• Current high-priority projects include:
• Designing a new SQL database and configuring BlackRock's eFront for private markets.
• Building a new Investor Portal for client portfolio access.
• Drive further projects supporting the Distribution, Investment, and Central Operations teams.

IT Operations & Risk Management

• Oversee the performance and output of the outsourced IT service provider, including desktop support, infrastructure, and network performance.
• Identify, assess, and manage IT risks, including cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain IT governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
• Implement and monitor disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Manage software licenses, IT procurement, and overall IT spend.

Compliance & Regulation

• Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, FICA, FATCA).
• Develop, review, and update IT and compliance policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
• Monitor regulatory changes and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
• Manage the Internal Compliance Calendar for regular submissions to the regulator.

Requirements: 

• Degree educated with strong academic results in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Law.
• A financial background and commercial understanding; experience in Asset Management is highly advantageous.
• 5+ years' experience in IT operations, compliance, or a similar role within the financial services sector.
• In-depth knowledge of IT risk, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Strong project management experience with a proven ability to manage complex initiatives.
• Experience working with and managing local and international service providers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to research legal Acts, distil actionable outcomes, and implement them.
• A fast learner willing to understand the intricacies of our business.
• May be required to obtain relevant Regulatory Examination (RE) qualifications.
