Role/Job Description

As an Associate you will primarily be involved in the following –

•  Researching and drafting tax opinions on various matters, focusing on high net
• worth individuals’ personal investments and portfolios in South Africa and abroad;
• Preparing for and attending client meetings and conference calls, and providing input
• in these meetings where necessary;
• Drafting proposals for client-centric assignments;
• Preparing applications for regularisation and /or approvals from the tax and
• exchange control authorities (including, but not limited to, applications for relief under
• the South African Voluntary Disclosure Programme);
• Drafting correspondence to, and replying to correspondence from, tax and exchange control authorities on behalf of clients;
• Assisting the team in relation to various business development initiatives with clients
• and intermediaries;
• Supporting the team on research and (where necessary) submissions to the relevant tax
• or exchange control authorities regarding proposed legislative amendments;
• Preparing and assisting with training sessions for clients, as well as organising informative client seminars;
• Assisting the team with formatting, proofreading and improving the layout of various documents;

Certain administrative tasks, including (but not limited to):

• Arranging conference calls and meetings;
• Taking minutes at meetings;
• Communicating client-related costs to managers; and
• Organising client and internal events from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

• LLB Degree
• Completed legal articles
• Strong interest in tax, specifically individuals tax
• Added advantage if you have experience in tax related projects & studies
