    Junior Product Development Technician

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the development team on cost reduction and development projects for specified customers, proactively and/or in response to briefs.
    • Execute and coordinate compounding and application of products onto the appropriate base for tasting (internally and externally). This includes preparing samples for research, lab analysis, shelf-life tests, retention samples and any other requirements e.g., dispatching of samples to internal stakeholders and external customers.
    • Manage laboratory stock of raw materials, keeping stock levels at an appropriate level and checking regularly to ensure raw materials have not reached their expiry date and are available to the laboratory for daily use.
    • Manage the perishable materials and base stock for respective customers and make sure there is no expired materials in the storeroom and request new perishable and base stock as required to cover existing projects.
    • Support any administrative activities related to R&D processes and systems e.g., SAP RD.
    • Participate in internal Sensory Evaluation activities to develop a strong awareness of the sensory attributes of new products and raw materials. 
    • Coordinate internal evaluations of newly developed products to ascertain required modifications.
    • Support Product and Process Implementation (PPI) to execute internal and external trial related activities and monitoring of first production runs.
    • Contribute towards continuous improvement of company standards for administration, Health & Safety, GMP and housekeeping in the work environment.
    • Support Technical Procurement/ Ingredient Technologist with evaluation of new/ alternative raw materials.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE:

    • Diploma/ B-Tech Degree - Food Technology, Biotechnology, or equivalent qualification.
    • Proven product development experience. FMCG environment knowledge is strongly preferred.
    • Team player able to interact cross-functionally.
    • Self-motivated individual capable of taking ownership and accountability.
    • Able to work under pressure and to manage competing priorities.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to adapt to changing environment.
    • Good communication skills which include ability to present data to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Research oriented individual with a high intellectual curiosity.
