Junior Quarry Foreman (Palmiet Quarry – Grabouw) at Afrimat

Minimum Qualification/ Experience

• Minimum Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering
• A valid driver’s license
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer literate – MS Office (excel, word outlook etc.
• Legal/ Operational compliance knowledge related to DMPR regulations
• Must be medically fit to perform duties in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Minimum of 3 years demonstrated supervisory experience
• Minimum of 3 years crusher operations and aggregate processing knowledge.
• Sound product knowledge
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Ability to respond and solve operational concerns
• Must have ability to do planning, lead, organise, control, and follow up

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

• Achieve production targets.
• Monitor plant performance and ensure plant efficiency standards are met.
• Ensure adequate stock piling and report any problems to sales.
• Ensure good housekeeping in the Plant area.
• Drive team to reach /understand KPIs
• Ensure all production meets the specified quality standards.
• Attend to any quality problems reported by the Laboratory Analyst.
• Monitor staff morale and address any issues of concern.
• Ensure safe working conditions by complying with all health and safety requirements.
• Ensure environmental compliance by complying with all environmental requirements.
• Conduct any inspection, investigation or exercise required by the SHERQ Department.
• Ensure all department employees are safely inducted and that all applicable Mine
• Authorisation Permits are in place.
• Understand quarry pit safety and examine and make safe process
• Ensure the plant is compliant in terms of DMPR Regulations
• Liaise with suppliers regarding the availability, pricing and procurement of spares.
• Ensure maintenance schedule on mobile and plant equipment are carried out.
• Execute all agreed projects and / or carrying out ad hoc assignments.
